Mountain-Men Sherpa, a book released on Sherpa

PUNE (KATHMANDU): Mountain- Men Sherpa, a book dedicated to Sherpa community published in Nepal on January 29. The translated version of the book authored by Pune’s Umesh Zirpe was officially dedicated to Sherpa community in the presence notable Sherpas.

The publication ceremony was organized at Sampada Auditorium, Kathmandu, Nepal by Federation of Sherpa Journalists Nepal under the guidance of Ang Babu Sherpa, Director, Peak Promotion Pvt. Ltd. H.H. Fupu Chhembe Sherpa Thupteen Jikdol, President International Buddhist Federation, Ram Hari Khatiwala, Khum Subedi, President TAAN, Ang Dawa Sherpa graced the program with their presence.

Umesh Zirpe said, “the Sherpa community had been extra ordinary not just in the mountaineering but in every walk of life. Yet their contribution to the society had so far been never praised or published. This book will help to recognize the remarkable feats, achievements, and above all humanity in times of crises exemplified by Sherpa community.

In December 2019, Pune’s Rohan Prakashan published the book named ‘Parvatputra Sherpa,’ the first Marathi book about Sherpa community. Umesh Zirpe penned down his experiences about Sherpa community in the book. The book received enormous response in native community.

Zirpe along with Rohan Prints (An English Publication Wing of Rohan Prakashan) decided to make the book global by publishing the translated version. Vivek Shivade, experienced mountaineer and Kangchenjunga summitter, contributed to the translation of the book.
