Muktangan organises Toy & Game Design competition

PUNE: 'Toyman' Padmashri Arvind Gupta will inaugurate the 'Khel Khel Mein', a national level Toy & Game Design competition will be organized by BVB's Muktangan Exploratory Science Center, Pune.

Arvind Gupta has made an enormous contribution to the field of education through Science Toys. The competition will be inaugurated on 1st November at 11 am, in a virtual event, in presence of Leena Mehendale, Chairperson of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Pune Kendra, informed by Nandkumar Kakirde, Honorary Secretary, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, in the press conference.

Anant Bhide, Honorary Director, Muktangan Exploratory Science Center, Neha Nirgudkar, Dy Director, Muktangan Exploratory Science Center, Abhishek Angole, Coordinator were present on this occasion.

Nandkumar Kakirde said that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address to the nation on the 74th Independence Day, has urged the youth of our nation to come up with indigenous toys and games reflecting Indian values. Responding to the PM Modi’s clarion call of “Team up for Toys”, Muktangan Exploratory is organizing a Toy Game Design Competition. Students can participate with their entries in the categories of Toys, Games or Projects - all of which will be based on Indian culture, mythology, history or geography."

Anant Bhide mentioned that, "The students can participate in two categories namely Senior & Junior Category. Students from the 5th to 10th Grade can participate in the Junior Category and Students studying in the 11th Grade and above can participate in the Senior Category. The competition is planned in two stages. In the first stage, Idea Stage, participants are expected to submit the ideas about their entry. The last date for the Idea Stage is 15th Dec’20. In the second stage, the Concept Design stage, the participants are expected to submit a working model of the idea. The last date for the Concept Design stage is 15th Feb, 21. An online exhibition of all the entries will be organized on 28th Feb’21. Winners of the competition will also be announced on Science Day, 28th Feb. Prizes worth Rs 2 Lakhs will be awarded in the various categories.

Neha Nirgudkar added, "In order to further the above objective, an Education Series, which will be free of cost to everyone, is planned from 20th Nov. The Education Series will provide access to online courses, hands-on workshops and expert Lectures. The Education Series will cover topics like Game Design, Thinking Skills, Toy Making, Fabrication Technology, and Programming Skills & Electronics. Free consultation & interaction sessions to facilitate the students will be conducted Live of Social Media. Teachers & Educators from all the institutes are requested to make the best use of the opportunity."
