Punyadham Ashram provides food to the needy

21/5/2020

PUNE: Punyadham Ashram believes “Giving hands are better than praying hands!” and has always put it into practice. As a small effort to the fight against the Corona pandemic, every little contribution makes a difference. From the beginning of the pandemic a number of goodwill activities have been started.

Cloth Handmade 3 ply masks with the specifications of WHO are being stitched by local women’s self-Help Groups whereby Ashram provides them with the best quality cotton fabric. They are very happy to earn a respectable livelihood and be gainfully occupied during the lockdown. Until now more than 44,000 masks have been gifted to various government; Army Hospitals – Sassoon Hospital, Pune Cantonment Hospital, Poona Hospital, Kashibai Navale Hospital, Desai Eye Hospital, AFMC, Police personnel, Leprosy Home, Sadhu Vaswani Mission, Mukul Madhav Foundation and other NGOs. 500 PPE suits and 500 KN 95 masks have also been purchased for distribution to hospitals.

Thousands are dying of hunger and Maa Krishna feels that ‘For the hungry… Food is God!’ In the beginning more than 100 families in & around the vicinity of Kondhwa- Pisoli were gifted ration kits. Now more rations have been procured for distribution as kits for 1000 more families to sustain them for a month. The local Police personnel are extremely helpful in locating the most affected families and distribution of ration kits.

The condition of migrant workers is also pathetic and they are all travelling with hungry stomachs. To relieve their suffering to some extent Maa decided to provide wholesome ‘ready-to-eat’ meal packets plus each with a mask. The distribution of these packets to reach the needy and famished migrant workers who were fortunate to travel by train, was possible only because of the selfless help from the Police Department.

All this has been possible under Maa’s able guidance and unending motivation with the hard work and dedicated efforts of Punyadham residents and the staff. We are also extremely grateful to the valuble contribution of our well-wishers from far and wide who come forward with their unconditional support towards these noble social welfare initiatives.
