Ashram is organizing ‘Mass Marriage’ of 15 couples from humble backgrounds, and
registration is open for entries from those who would like to benefit from this
noble initiative.
This is the 5th consecutive year since Punyadham has been
hosting this grand wedding ceremony.
“We are making a small contribution to
society by trying to bring about a change in the mindset of the populace in
discouraging the custom of accepting/giving dowry. In the past 4 years, 58
couples belonging to ‘farmer-suicide’ families, visually & physically
challenged, orphan girls and so on, have to date taken their wedding vows at
this ceremony,” says Chairperson Maa Krishna Kashyap.
The function will take place in a traditional Hindu way
with the brides and grooms exchanging garlands with the blessing of priests and
elders. Each couple will be gifted a complete ‘Trousseau’ with wedding
attire, daily wear sarees, necessary household items, like steel utensils,
steel containers for grains, plates, glasses, cutlery, etc. bed-sheets,
blankets and other items for them to embark on a happy wedded life. All
necessary arrangements will be done by Punyadham for them, free of cost.
The event is scheduled on Sunday, 8th December 2019 - Muhurat
at 12.20 PM (Noon) at Krishna Avtaar Sanskritik Bhavan in presence
of Chairperson Maa Krishna Kashyap, President Sadananda Shetty and the trustees. A number of distinguished guests- Babasaheb Purandare, Padma
Bhushan Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, Ritu Prakash Chhabria, Managing Trustee of Mukul
Madhav Foundation, Prashantdada Jagtap-Ex mayor of Pune, Chetan Vitthal Tupe of
NCP, among others are also expected to grace the occasion to bless the
newly-weds. More than 4000 guests are expected to attend this special event.
Punyadham Ashram, primarily a Senior Citizens’ Home, a project
by Vishwa Jagriti Mission Trust Pune runs a Project ‘Hamari Beti’ under which a
number of social welfare programs are conducted – namely, sponsoring the
education of deserving girls, organizing medical camps especially in Yerwada
Jail, skill development of women & young girls and mass
marriages.
The Registrations are open and those interested should enroll
immediately.
