PUNE: The Indian government’s Make
in India is a big failure as there is a huge gap between rules and regulations
and their effective implementation. Government should give human face to their
policies, said French Economist Dr Jean-Joseph Boillot here today.
The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI) - Pune
Chapter had launched its presence in the city today with an Interaction with
Renowned French Economist Dr. Jean-Joseph Boillot. Boillot expressed his
thoughts in his inaugural speech.
Dr Boillot is a renowned global French economist and has authored over
20 books on India, China and Africa. The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and
Industry kick started its first event in Pune today with an interactive session
aimed to provide a better insight into the Indian Economy and address business
concerns.
Anand Khetan from Roel and Partners introduced the session with an
overview of the India Economy and the current business scenario in India. Dr
Boillot’s talk focused on the economic challenges for India in 2020, the role
of frugal innovations and domestic demand in India as well as the potential for Indo-French businesses to grow in Africa, especially in the Agriculture sector.
On this occasion, Payal S. Kanwar, Director General, IFCCI said “We are
delighted to open our 5th office in India in the city of Pune. The Indo-French
Chamber of Commerce and Industry is currently one the most active bilateral
chambers in India and bilateral relations between France and India are
currently thriving. Several major French companies such as Michelin, Ubisoft,
Faurecia, L’Oréal, etc are based out of Pune. We are looking forward to
creating a strong base in this city.”
