The world record holder Giripremi team is arriving in the city
on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Giripremi, on behalf of all Punekars, has decided to
felicitate the summitters and celebrate the success in a style. The
felicitation program is scheduled at 6 PM on Sunday in the presence of Hon. Muktatai
Tilak, Mayor, PMC, Pune. Giripremi’s teams have been scaling the new peaks
every year.
Since 2012, under the leadership of Umesh Zirpe, Giripremi has
scaled seven of the top 14 8000 meters peaks in the world including Mt. Everest
and Mt. Kangchenjunga. Zirpe is the only leader in the country to achieve this
feat. This year’s Kangchenjunga Expedition was unique as Giripremi was leading
an international expedition unofficially as all the teams arrived at the base camp
of Mt. Kangchenjunga was seeking guidance from Giripremi for climbing the peak.
During the ceremony, all the climbers from Mt. Kangchenjunga
Expedition are going share their journeys to the top. It is one of its kind
