Fast track knee surgeries at Sancheti Hospital

PUNE: Sancheti Hospital recently completed 53 glorious years recently (12 December). To mark the 54th Foundation Day, Sancheti Hospital has launched Fast Track Knee Replacement Surgery with highly specialized and technically advanced procedures, patient management protocols, discharge in shorter time with negligible pain and greater patient satisfaction.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Parag Sancheti Chairman and MD, Sancheti Hospital said that carrying forward the legacy of this organization we continuously strive to come out with patient centric initiatives for the best patient outcomes. Fast Track Knee Surgery is one of them. This will help patients get discharged within 72 hours and will be aided by our highly specialized team of physiotherapists who would be doing physiotherapy sessions after the discharge of the patient, in their home.

Consultant Knee Surgeon Dr Kailash Patil said that this has been possible because of coordinated effort . Awareness about Knee replacement surgeries is increasing but people are still vary because they think they will require a month to recover. Patient can be admitted on OPD basis on the same day of the operation which normally happens in morning hours. The patient is made to walk on the same day and there is a separate team for pain management. We have also prepared a protocol for physiotherapy for fast track patients . For now the fast track surgeries will be conducted for unilateral (one knee).
