based renowned mountaineering organization Giripremi has organized several innovative
programs on the occasion of International Mountain Day. Mountain Run, Mountain
Film Festival, Online Mountain Photography Competition and Mountain Worship
have been organized to celebrate the important day.
International Mountain Day is celebrated on December 11 every
year. One seventh of world’s population live in mountain areas, whereas
remaining one third is largely depend on the natural resources originated in
mountains. In addition, environmental conservation in mountain areas is a need
of hour.
To promote the cause and to create the awareness about
preserving mountain ecosystem, United Nations celebrate International Mountain
Day with specific theme every year. This year Food and Agriculture Organization
of United Nations has decided Mountain Matters as a theme. Giripremi has
planned several programs to create awareness about the theme and to underline
the contribution of mountaineers to the development of ecosystem of mountain
region.
With these events, Giripremi has aimed to reach more people to
create awareness about mountains. Pune citizens should not miss the opportunity
to witness exuberant events related to mountains.
