Teacher’s role important for nation: Prof Dr .D Karad

PUNE: The role of Teachers is most important for nation building. Our teaching fraternity must profess and promote our rich Indian culture, traditions and philosophy to the world so that the whole world starts walking on the same path, said Prof Dr Vishwanath D Karad, Founder & President, MIT WPU.

He was addressing students and faculties at an event organised to celebrate Teachers Day at the Kothrud campus today. On the occasion, MIT WPU feliciated Prof Gautam Bapat, Prof Shankar Gambhir, Prof Dr Kiran Kokate, Prof M R Mahajan, Dr Anil Pawar, Prof Amol Mane, Prof Vinodkumar Jadhav, Dr Dipti Marathe and Prof Suresh Kangane were conferred upon the Ideal Teacher award.

Present on the occasion were MIT's Prof P B Joshi, Founder Trustee, MIT, Pandit Vasantrao Gadgil, Sanskrit scholar, Rahul V Karad, Executive President, MIT WPU, Prof Sharadchandra Darade Patil, Dean, MIT,  Dr. I. K Bhat, Vice Chancellor, MIT WPU, Dr.S.N.Pathan, Dr. Subhash Awale and Dr. L K Kshirsagar, Principal, MIT, Pune.

Dr. Karad stated that Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was an ideal and revered teacher and has played a crucial role in nation building. Teachers must take upon themselves the mantle of creating holistic and socially responsible individuals who will spread the rich Indian culture and heritage to the world community. 

The nation would take giant strides in becoming the Vishwa Guru of the world in this 21st century because of its deep blend of science and spirituality. Spirituality is taught in many universities across the globe but sadly India is still grappling in castism and teachers must move towards eradicating it.

Prof.P B Joshi, in his address, said teachers must not confine themselves to classroom teaching but be an important of all round development of students. Their research should be socially inclined and they must profess creating students with moral values and character.

Rahul Karad said today's day is the day to revere teachers. India is country which has a Guru Shishya tradition and teachers are a very important pillar in its existence.
Prof Darade Patil said that teachers play a vital role in development of students. Their role is as important as that of parents and thus they need to be hailed for their roles.
Dr I K Bhat said teachers are the pillars of nation building. An successful teacher is the one who is an inspiration to students..
