Girimitra Summit on 14 and 15 July in Mulund

PUNE: 17 th ‘Girimitra Sammelan’ organized by Maharashtra Seva Sangh, Mulund will be held on 14 and 15 July 2018 at Maharashtra Seva Sangh Auditorium, Mulund. Mingma Sherpa (first Nepalese to summit all 14 8000er peaks in the world), Kami Rita Sherpa (World Record 22 times Everest Summiteer), Khoo Swee Chiow (Veteran Mountaineer and Adventure Sportsman) from Singapore are chief guests of the Sammelan, whereas Wing Cdr Devidutta Panda (Vice- Chancellor, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling) will chair the Sammelan.

The prime theme of the Sammelan is ‘Mountaineering: New Horizons, New Challenges,’ which will be explained with the help of audio-visual clips during the course of Sammelan. Pune’s premium mountaineering organization Giripremi is hosting this Sammelan.

The prime theme of this year’s Sammelan is ‘Mountaineering: New Horizons, New Challenges.’ It will emphasize on several aspects of mountaineering including ‘Mountaineering Literature- Development and Current Scenario,’ ‘Mountaineering for younger generation,’ ‘Entrepreneurship and Business Opportunities in Mountaineering,’ ‘Sports Climbing,’ ‘Mountaineers contribution towards in Disaster Management, Search and Rescue Operations in Remote locations.’ Along with Audio-visuals presentation on mentioned subjects, chief guests will enlighten the audience with their experiences and anecdotes of mountaineering and adventure journey.

Girimitra Sammelan is a significant event in mountaineering fraternity. Every year hundreds of mountain lovers attend the Sammelan with enthusiasm. Sammelan Chief Shri. Chandan Chavan Emphasized the importance of Girimitra Sammelan precisely. He said, “Maharashtra is a capital of mountaineering in India. Every year, millions of enthusiast trekkers and mountaineers spend time in Sahyadri and Himalayas.

From one day trek to nearby forts to Everest Expeditions, several mountaineering activities are increasing with time. It highlights how mountaineering is making its place in mainstream Maharashtra. In fact, mountaineering has now become a part of lifestyle. To understand such changes, challenges and opportunities, guiding newbies in the field to right direction and crafting norms for mountaineering have emerged as necessary aspects to deal with. Girimitra Sammelan is right and appropriate platform to address all mentioned aspects.”

Girimitra Sammelan is organized in Mulund in July every year. This is a 17 th year of 2- day long gathering. Hundreds of mountain lovers attend the Sammelan with utmost enthusiasm. Every year, Girimitra Sammelan organizes several competitions related to mountaineering and adventure sports. This year too, Girimitra Sammelan hosted Photography Competition, Video Presentation, Trekking Blogs competitions.
