PUNE:
Passengers booked on German airline Lufthansa faced hassles following
cancellation of its flight to and from Frankfurt in the past few days.
City resident Rajeeb Ghosh said, “I have a US-based client and
a few days ago his flight was cancelled from Frankfurt to Pune without any
notification. On Wednesday, the outbound flight was cancelled. He was forced to
book a Jet Airways flight to Mumbai from Pune and then take a flight from
Mumbai to Frankfurt. The Jet Airways flight he was booked in got delayed and we
thought he will miss the flight from Mumbai.”
The flight from Frankfurt to Pune was cancelled on May 30,
too. “Now, my Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Pune is cancelled. Stuck at
airports throughout this trip. Thought everywhere the ground staff is
supportive,” one Abhay wrote on Twitter.
On May 31, Rajeeb wrote on the Twitter handle of Lufthansa,
“Hello, my colleague is to fly from Frankfurt-Pune, which shows as cancelled;
your phones don’t get picked for over 10 minutes; please update.”
A spokesperson of the airline said, “In the past couple of
days, we faced the situation of a missing incoming flight from Germany because
of technical reasons in Frankfurt. This forced Lufthansa to cancel the outbound
flight from Pune. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers.
Lufthansa has done the outmost to rebook or accommodate the passengers.”
From June 1 last year, Lufthansa increased the frequency of
its services to Frankfurt from Pune to six times a week from four. The flight
from Pune departs at 1.55 am, while the flight from Frankfurt arrives at
12.55am.
