PUNE: On the
eve of World Environment Day, the MIT Group of Institutions have pioneered
creating smart campuses across its four locations.The campuses are MIT World
Peace University, Kothrud, MIT Art Design and Technology University, MIT
Academy of Engineering, Alandi and Vishwashanti Gurukul, Pandharpur.
The initiative, Smart Campus Cloud Network (SCCN) is a project
initiated by the TERRE Policy Centre which is a global network of education
campuses committed to make tangible contribution to the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals.
The project sustainability report of the SCCN was released
today at the hands of Dr Rajendra Shende, Chairman of TERRE Policy Centre at
the MIT WPU campus. Others present at the occasion were Noted Environmentalist
Dr D M More, Prof Dr Vishwanath Karad, Founder President, MAEERS MIT Group of
Institutions and Dr L K Kshirsagar, Principal, MAEER's MIT, Pune.
"People should develop a scientific temper and use as
much solar energy as possible, completely ban plastic and plant as many trees
as possible for a better future,"said Dr More. "Green vegetation is
the elixir for human existence and a thought should be spared to conserve
it," he added.
Dr Karad, in his address said that MIT Group wholeheartedly supports the call for a ban on plastic given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is our responsibility to do our for the world by taking small but positive steps in terms of preserving our green cover, he added.
