PUNE: The
police arrested a former student of a college in Talegaon Dabhade and her
accomplice for blackmailing its principal and extorting Rs 9 lakh from him.
The two had demanded Rs 30 lakh from the principal (52), claiming that they had
obscene video clips and photographs featuring him.
A police team headed by inspectors Dayanand Gawade and
Amarnath Waghmode arrested the 34-year-old woman, a resident of Pimpri, and her
47-year-old accomplice from Kalyaninagar, and found Rs 6.20 lakh on them. The college
principal had lodged a police complaint, following which a trap was laid at the
institute from where the two were supposed to collect the remaining Rs 21 lakh
from the complainant.
The FIR stated that the former student had called the
principal on June 1 on his cellphone. She said she was in some trouble and
requested him to visit her house. After receiving quite a few calls, he agreed
to visit her house in Pimpri.
Before the principal could reach, she had called her friend to
her residence. As soon as the principal entered the house, her friend attacked
him and beat him up. The two then beat up the principal and forced him to take
off his clothes. The police said the woman then took off her clothes and stood
next to the principal, while her accomplice made a video on his cellphone and
clicked some photographs.
The two then showed the video clips and photographs to the principal and threatened to share those on the social media if he did not pay Rs 30 lakh. The two had succeeded in extorting Rs 9 lakh from the principal. During the last two days, the duo started calling him again and demanded the remaining amount of Rs 21 lakh. The principal, who is married and has children, failed to collect the amount and decided to approach police.
