PMRDA's deadline to regularize illegal structures

23/12/2017

PUNE: Here's an opportunity for the owners of unauthorised constructions built in the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) areas till December 31, 2015, to get them regularised.

The owners need to apply for regularisation of such unauthorised structures to the licensed engineer along with necessary documents by June 21 next year. However, the regularisation will come at a cost. The government will charge hefty fines comprising development charges, infrastructure charges and compounding charges. Only then will such structures be declared 'compounded structures'.

PMRDA chief Kiran Gitte told pune-news.com that the government had asked the local bodies to invite applications from citizens seeking to regularise such structures. They will have to fill in the application form available on PMRDA website. "The application form will be accepted by the authority in the prescribed format and along with necessary documents till June 21," he said.

A list will be made as per the new norms and a separate cell will accept applications as per norms. The state government has stated that unauthorised construction on prohibited areas like defence land, heritage buildings, dumping grounds, playgrounds and gardens will not be regularised. Illegal buildings in ecologically sensitive areas like coastal regulation zones, mangroves, forests and structurally unsafe buildings will not be regularised, as per the Maharashtra Town Planning (Compounded Structures) Rules, 2017.
