PUNE: The Dr
Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University (MIT WPU), for the first time, will
be hosting Sarpanch Sansad, a conclave exclusively for Sapanchs (village heads)
from across the State between December 10 to 12, 2017, at the MIT WPU Kothrud
campus here. Over 1200 Sarpanchs from various parts of the State have confirmed
their participation in the Sansad.
Speaking about the conclave, Rahul Karad, Executive President
of MIT WPU and the founder of the Sarpanch Sansad said, “Sarpanchs are key to
the development of every village. They are an important connect between the
villagers, the State and Central Government. The Sansad would be a great
opportunity for the Sarpanchs to come together under one roof and engage in
discussions with eminent speakers on issues in agriculture, role of women in
village development, water management, rural development funding plan, CSR,
newer technologies and various government schemes.”
“The essence of this Sarpanch Sansad is to bring the
Sarpanchs, the Government, important political leaders, media, Subject Matter
Experts (SMEs) to facilitate effective and holistic rural development of our
villages,” he added. Every Taluka/District has its unique demographic and
environmental background. Hence, models of such villages will have to be
modelled on the peculiar requirements of these villages even as steps of good
governance are implemented. The Sansad would be having detailed discussions on
complementing Rural Development with Technology for creating a stronger Bharat,
said Yogesh Patil, Chief Coordinator of Sarpanch Sansad.
The three day Sansad will have eminent people and experts from
various fields who will be guiding the Sarpanch gathering by sharing their
experiences about creating and executing sustainable development goals for the
society at large. Retired IAS officer Avinash Dharmadhikari, Padmashri Subhash
Palekar, Social activist Anna Hazare, Pradeep Lokhande, Rural development
expert, Abhay Tilak, eminent economist, Santosh Mandlecha, President of MCCIA, Raju
Shetty, Member of Parliament and Farmer leader and Mani Shankar Aiyar, senior
Congress party leader would be attending this Sansad.
