PUNE: The
Bharati Vidyapeeth police arrested a 25-year-old engineering student for
creating a fake profile of a female student on a social networking site. The
two students were in a relationship and had recently gone their separate ways.
The 22-year-old complainant lodged a case with the police
after she started receiving obscene calls from strangers. Senior police
inspector Kamlakar Takawale of Bharati Vidyapeeth police station said, "We
have arrested the student, who is in the last year of mechanical engineering.
He hails from Ambajogai in Beed district," he said.
The complainant stays in the area located behind the Bharati
Vidyapeeth campus. She is currently in the last year of a professional course.
The woman and the accused were earlier in a relationship. A few months ago, the
accused allegedly created a page on a social networking website, using the
complainant's name and uploaded several obscene photographs on it.
According to the police, when the woman confronted the accused he allegedly issued threats of dire consequences. Cops have arrested the engineering student for outraging the modesty of the complainant.z
