PUNE: India’s fastest growing social media platform, ShareChat has
now touched 20 lakh Marathi users across Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka. This
announcement was made during a media round-table in the city where a few ShareChat
users also spoke about their experience of using the platform.
ShareChat is a first-of-its-kind regional language social
networking platform, focused completely on India, and available in 10 languages
of Hindi, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Odia
and Kannada.
Majority of ShareChat users among Marathisare male (75
per cent), however there is a strong representation of females as well (25 per
cent). Trending news, politics, Marathi cinema, literature, culture, comedy
videos and regional festivals and events are the main topics of interest to the
users on the platform.
“We have witnessed a strong inclination towards local
festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, PandharichiWari and movies – be it Marathi
cinema or Bollywood among the local users on our platform,” ShareChat community
head for Marathi, Suraj Kawade said. Recent trending topics on ShareChat in Marathi
are #Vhay_mee_labharthi, #Kopardi_khatla,#gram_panchayat_elections,#Elphinstone,#Dutt_Jayanti,#Ind
vs SL,#Gujarat_Elections,#Dashkriya,headded.
“ShareChat caters to the daily need of digital content
and infotainment of first-time internet users in their own language. It
provides a strong platform where people can express their opinions, share their
talents, talk about trends and meet new people having similar
interests.Maharashtra has the largest number of ShareChat users in India
(20 per cent) while Marathi as a language contributes our second largest user
base behind Hindi,” said Prakhar Singhal, Head - Business, ShareChat.
