PUNE:
A
small-time film director was booked for allegedly demanding sexual favours from
a 19-year-old aspiring actress on the pretext of offering her a role in a
Marathi film. The girl, a professional dancer, did not register a complaint
instantly since she was shaken by the entire incident. She lodged an FIR
against the suspect with the Wakad police.
Sub inspector Sangita Gode of the Wakad police said,
"The girl had come across an advertisement on a WhatsApp group stating
that the suspect, a small-time director, was looking for an actress for a role
in a Marathi film on August 4. She responded to the advertisement and met the
suspect at a studio at Tapkir Chowk in Kalewadi for an audition on August 5.
On August 6, the suspect's manager called up the
girl and summoned her to the studio. "She went to the studio and met the
suspect, who demanded sexual favours from her to give a boost to her
career," the complainant said.
The girl refused the offer and walked out of the
studio. "In her complaint, she mentioned the name of the suspect and that
of the studio. When we visited the studio for further probe, the studio owner
claimed that no such incident had occurred there," Gode said, adding that
further probe is on.
The complainant is a resident of Jejuri in Pune
rural, the officer said. "The suspects has been booked under section 354 (A)
(sexual harassment and punishment for the same) of the Indian Penal Code.
