PUNE: In what
may seem like a major blow to the Nationalist Congress Party, municipal
commissioner Kunal Kumar disqualified the membership of corporator Kishor Dhankawade
for submitting bogus caste certificate.
Meanwhile, Dhankawade said that he had approached the court
and challenged the decision of caste validity committee. Municipal commissioner
working under BJP's pressure disqualified him without waiting for court's
decision.
Dhankawade contested election in Other Backward Caste (OBC)
category and submitted the certificate of Kunbi caste. The Bhor Sub Divisional
Office said the caste certificate was bogus and not valid. Even caste validity
committee rejected it.
As per the caste validity
committee's report state election commission given directives to the municipal
commissioner. Kunal Kumar issued the order on Wednesday to disqualify him as a
member. There are 47 members of the NCP in the PMC which will now come down to
46 after this decision.
