PUNE: Alleging
state government for changing history of
world famous Ganesh Festival of Pune, Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Trust today
claimed that freedom fighter Bhausaheb Rangari alias Bhau Laxman Jawale has
initiated Ganesh Festival to boost freedom movement in 1892 and he should get
his credit in history.
Alarming to state government, Suraj Renuse, one of the
trustees, said that the history written is one-sided. If government will not change
history, the Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Trust will undertake
agitations, rallys. We appreciate the credit of the then national leader, Lokmanya
Bal Gangadhar Tilak, making people aware about India’s freedom but in case of credit
issue of establishment of Ganesh Festival, Bhausaheb Rangari should get a
respectable mention about his work in history.
It is widely accepted that leader Lokmanya Tilak had initiated
Ganesh Festival, but this new thought may create ruckus in the social world of
the state.
