PUNE: Not
growing in your job? It might be due to your location. Job growth also depends
on the city you are located in. You can get better career growth by moving to
another city. Bangalore is the best city to move to for job growth,
followed by Pune and Hyderabad, according to a TeamLease survey of 13 leading
cities in India.
Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad have beaten Delhi, Mumbai and
Chennai in terms of job growth. Employees growing faster in these non-metro
cities might be due to the concentration of new-age industry such as startups,
BPO and KPO in these cities. While these sectors might be vulnerable to loss of jobs,
they can yet offer faster career growth.
But a relocation is not always helpful. There are cities which
can prove challenging for those relocating with an eye on growth.
Lucknow, followed by Kolkata and Baroda, could be the worst city to relocate if you are looking to grow in your job. These Tier II cities could be lower in business and economic growth than Chandigarh, Jaipur and Indore, the other three cities in the rankings which are better than Kolkata, Lucknow and Baroda for job growth. Ahmedabad tops the Tier II cities for job growth.
