PUNE: The state
anti-corruption bureau (ACB), Pune, on Thursday arrested a senior clerk from
the sub-divisional office of Maval-Mulshi for accepting a bribe of Rs
50,000 through his accomplice, a computer operator, from a land owner.
The suspect has been identified as Pravin Dhamale (40) of
Pimple Gurav. His accomplice, Sandeep Ghadge (28), has also been arrested.
The ACB team led by assistant commissioner of police Jagadish Satav made the
arrests.
An ACB official said the Maharashtra Industrial Development
Corporation (MIDC) had acquired the complainant and his relative's land in the
Maval area after paying them compensation. "Dhamale had demanded Rs 50,000
in bribe from the complainant for helping him get the compensation from the
government. The land owner contacted the ACB office and lodged a complaint
against Dhamale," he said.
The official said the ACB team verified the complaint and
accordingly laid a trap at Dhamale's office near Pune railway station and
caught his computer operator Ghadge while accepting the money. He said the ACB
has registered an offence against Dhamale and Ghadge with the Bund Garden police
station.
