PMC's Chief Security Officer caught taking bribe

PUNE: In a significant trap by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), a 44-year-old Santosh Sambhajirao Pawar, Chief Security Officer of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), was arrested red-handed today evening accepting Rs. 4 lakh at Hotel Olympia Cafe near PMC.

The ACB officials have identified the arrested Chief Security Officer of PMC as Santosh Pawar (Damodar Society, Lane No. 4, Rowhouse No. 2, near Navgraha temple, Bibwewadi) He demanded the bribe of Rs. 10 lakh to renew security tender of Pune Municipal Corporation. ACB also arrested Kishor Dattatraya Girme (50) in this regard.


Giving details, police inspector Dhananjay Pingale said, “The complainant has a security agency. He has a contract with Pune Municipal Corporation to provide security. Recently his security contract came to an end. Before new tender, the complainant was willing to extend his tenure. To send such proposal, Chief Security officer Santosh Pawar demanded him Rs. 10 lakh as bribe. But complainant forwarded this case to the Anti Corruption Bureau. ACB officials confirmed the complaint, laid a trap today and arrested accused with one more person.
