PUNE: In a
tragic accident that came to light on Tuesday afternoon, a 50-yearold woman
died after she fell from the 19th floor of an under-construction building of
Kumar Builders on Paud Phata Road.
The deceased, who is identified as Anushree Ashitosh Pandey,
had visited the site to check a sample flat and accidently tripped over iron
sheets and fell directly near the lift duct on the first floor of the building.
The incident occurred at 4pm, and Anushree sustained serious head and body
injuries. Kothrud police have filed an FIR against four people under Section
304(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in this regard.
According to the information provided by the Kothrud police,
Anushree is a homemaker and a resident of Kapila Malhar society in Baner. Her
husband Ashitosh owns a chemical company along with two other partners and the
office is located in Bavdhan. The family was in search of a new house, and hence
Anushree had paid a visit to the under construction building — 45 Nirvana
Hills. She was alone on the 19th floor when the incident took place.
Sandeep Patil, purchase manager at the construction site,
informed, “Anushree Pandey was not accompanied by anyone when she had come to
visit our site and had asked to see a sample flat. So, a security guard and I
went with her on the 19th floor of the building. She later received a call from
her daughter and asked me to fetch her so I went downstairs. Meanwhile, our
security guard was waiting on the 19th floor, but outside the flat. After a few
minutes, we heard a loud noise and learned that she had fallen down on the
first floor. All of us rushed to her rescue, and immediately contacted the
police as well.”
When asked about the safety arrangement at the construction
site, Patil said, “The entire site is properly covered by safety nets. Also,
the sample flat that the deceased was shown was also safely covered by brick
walls. She accidently fell into the lift duct.”
On Tuesday, when the incident took place, there was no work
carried out at the construction site, so very few people were present. Kamlesh
Pandey, Anushree’s brother, who spoke to her last over the phone that same
morning, told, “On Tuesday morning, I received a call from Anushree asking
about a family ritual for our mother, who recently passed away. She sounded
perfectly normal and we had decided to meet that same evening. However, much
later I received a call from the police, as she had dialled my number the last
time before she died. They told me about the accident and I was completely
taken aback.”
Madhav Kane, Anushree’s husband’s business partner, added, “In
the afternoon, she had visited our office to give lunch to her husband. Around
4.30 pm, when Ashitosh was in his cabin next to mine, he received a call from
the police and was informed about the accident. We all then rushed to the spot.
The entire family is in shock right now.”
Meanwhile, Babasaheb Jadhav, assistant sub-inspector attached
with Kothrud police station, informed, “We have registered an FIR against four
people under Section 304(A) of IPC. We are also taking statements of the people
present at the construction site at the time of the accident. The post-mortem
